Conference Manager

World Congress a leading producer of domestic and international conferences in healthcare is seeking an eager individual to join our Leadership Summit Division as a Conference Manager. Reporting to the Division’s Director this person will be responsible for researching, developing and producing conference programs for senior level healthcare executives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct intensive market research to validate potential conference topics via online research, telephone interviews and in-person meetings
  • Develop conference agendas and recruit speakers
  • Identify primary and secondary target markets
  • Write brochure copy and marketing briefs for the execution of the marketing campaign
  • Work with the sales team to identify potential sponsorship prospects
  • Manage on-site logistics
Requirements:
  • Candidates must have a college degree and minimum of 2 years business experience in a team environment
  • Possess excellent analytical, communication, computer, organizational and research skills
  • Must have an ability to work independently, as a team player, be flexible, a self-starter, and juggle multiple tasks in a time-sensitive and fast paced environment
  • Able to interface with all levels of an organization both internally and externally
  • Strong networking, negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Travel required
  • Knowledge of healthcare market would be a plus but is not a requirement

Conference Manager, Leadership Summits

World Congress provides thought-provoking, timely research to advance the health care industry. World Congress events convene CEOs and senior executives from all segments of the health care industry to exchange ideas and debate with thought leaders in order to foster innovative, solution-oriented approaches to advance health care quality, access and contain costs.

Career Profile:

World Congress conference managers are entrepreneurial with a drive to identify and forecast health care industry trends to develop a vision for strategic, leadership events. Candidates must demonstrate strong investigative and analytical research skills and the ability to translate this research into a compelling, commercially-viable conference agenda. Candidates also must able to recruit high-level speakers, participate in sponsorship discussions, negotiate deals, and give strategic direction to marketing and promotional efforts.

Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic vision for a leadership event and communicate that vision internally and externally
  • Research industry trends from a variety of industry sector perspectives to identify a compelling, timely topic angle
  • Conduct one-on-one research interviews with high-level executives and develop strong relationships
  • Track media and trade press for market developments; Research other content/events marketed to executives
  • Recruit high level speakers and negotiate specific presentation deliverables
  • Create innovative program agendas with multiple perspectives and unique session delivery formats
  • Collaborate with a talented team of senior operations, marketing and sponsorship sales professionals
  • Travel to national events and network with hundreds of senior level executives
  • Please note: This is not a meeting planning position. This is a product/project management position.
Requirements:
  • This position requires 2-5 years business experience, preferably in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or insurance, as well as BS/BA in business, journalism or marketing communications. (Past conference/publishing production experience is a plus.)
  • Strong written and verbal (phone) communications
  • Entrepreneurial, strong work ethic and attention to detail is a necessity
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
