Paul Steiger
Managing Editor and Vice President
The Wall Street JournalMr. Steiger joined the Journal in 1966 as a reporter in the San
Francisco bureau. He moved to the Los Angeles Times as a staff writer and in 1971
transferred to the papers Washington DC bureau as an economic correspondent. He
returned to Los Angeles in 1978 to serve as the Times business editor. In 1983, Mr.
Steiger rejoined the Journal as an assistant managing editor in New York and became deputy
managing editor in April 1985. He was appointed managing editor in June 1991 and became a
vice president of the Journal in May 1992.
Mr. Steiger has won three Gerald Loeb awards and two John Hancock awards for his
economic and business coverage. In March 1999, he was elected to the Pulitzer Prize Board.
