March 15, 2021 • 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM ET

Due to the public health emergency declared in response to the pandemic and a myriad other reasons, the need for increased access and coverage of behavioral health services is necessary to meet a growing demand. World Congress is pleased to host another webinar series to continue these important conversations around mental health and wellness, Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and telebehavioral health care delivery. Join you peers from across the health care ecosystem focused on BH – health plans, providers, government, community organizations, and others – during this webinar series to hear approaches and best practices being developed and implemented to integrate behavioral health, adopt value-based care models, use technology to deliver MH and SUD screenings and services, and more.

Webinar Agenda:

12:00 – 1:00 pm

Assessing the Need and Meeting the Demand – Evaluate What’s Worked, How to Sustain, and What Else Needs to Occur

We are all aware of the growing number of individuals currently suffering with a mental health condition, substance use disorder, or suicidal ideation. As a behavioral health community – providers, plans, community organizations, and more – we are all doing the best we can to address the increased need, but challenges still arise. This cross-stakeholder panel shares insights into innovations and best practices being developed and implemented within their organizations, how they are working with other stakeholders in the BH community, what’s changed, and what more needs to be done to create a sustainable system to meet the needs of the population in 2021 and beyond.

  • Examine the regulatory and policy changes that occurred as a result of the pandemic – What has worked, what’s here to stay, and what more may need to be done
  • Learn about innovations to address access, delivery, and payment of BH services
  • Unpack the questions and concerns that still exist around the nuances of regulations, evidence-based outcomes of different modalities, parity, and payment for BH services
  • Discuss ways that plans and providers are working together, integrating behavioral health into primary care, and implementing a whole person care approach that considers both physical and behavioral health together
  • Explore opportunities in front of us, particularly with the transformation to digital, to increase access and align incentives for greater collaboration across the continuum

Tracking Evidence-Based Outcomes and Supporting Addiction Recovery with Digital Technology

The use of digital technology by providers and payers has increased exponentially over the past year. Adoption was driven by a variety of factors, but what has emerged is a new outlook on who, where, and how technology can and will be embraced to solve barriers, gaps, and inequities in health care, including behavioral health care. What hasn’t changed, and perhaps has grown larger – particularly in the mental health and substance use disorder arenas – is the demand to show verifiable, clear, and data-informed results illustrating treatment success. Forward-thinking clinicians are looking for ways to collect and use data to drive behavioral health improvements.

During this session, learn how neurotechnology can be used to assess mental health, screen for risk of mental conditions, and train new brain habits to support addiction recovery. See how clinicians can use a patient’s mental health assessment and clinical screening data to create targeted addiction treatment plans and interventions, and use patient assessment data to track and manage the patient’s recovery over time. Plus, discover tools and tips for supporting patients between visits to help them control cravings, keep them on track with their recovery plan, and reduce risk of relapse.

  • Use scientifically validated data to quickly diagnose patients and develop targeted treatment plans
  • Track and manage patients’ mental health over time and adjust care plans accordingly
  • Support patients between visits with digital tools to help them control cravings and keep them on track with their recovery plan
  • Show verifiable, data-informed results illustrating treatment success

Making Value-Based Payment Models Work in Behavioral Health

The pandemic underscored the importance of operating in a value-based system for many providers who had traditionally relied on volume in a FFS environment. But even before the pandemic, forward-thinking organizations were developing value-based arrangements in behavioral health. Examine what we’ve learned from those early models and risk structures, different types of BH episodes of care arrangements that exist, and what new opportunities are emerging to create collaborative payer-provider agreements to align incentives, share data, control costs, and improve quality and outcomes.

  • Discuss how payers can support their provider networks with the tools they need to address whole patient care
  • Examine the data that payers need, and data that providers need, to better identify and deliver care to those at risk or suffering from a behavioral health condition
    • Discuss how new technology, the rise of consumerism, and increased adoption of telemedicine and digital tools may enable us to gather and share data
    • Learn about models of BH integration (behavioral-physical-primary care) that enable and reward coordinated care
  • Hear an update on BH-related bundled payment pilots in areas such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Anxiety, Schizophrenia, and Substance Use Disorder
  • Explore successful state MCO and federal CMS value-based initiatives that can be applied to commercial plan-provider partnerships in the BH arena
  • Gain insight to turn responsive actions as a result of the pandemic into a long-term, sustainable strategy
