Introduced by Rep. Patrick Kennedy responds to: lost productivity due to depression which costs businesses an estimated $31 billion per year. The bill addresses evidence from many states with mental health parity laws that parity is very affordable, even in an age of rising health care costs. Following the establishment of parity, people gain greater access to less expensive forms of treatment.
