OPENING KEYNOTE ADDRESS:
Overcoming Obesity: Moving Forward with Balanced Approaches |
| Obesity is so pervasive that it is a prime topic of discussion in all sectors, public and private, and among all age groups in communities everywhere. From federal policy to the entertainment industry and our children’s schools, obesity is tugging at the threads of our social fabric. To emphasize the impact, Dr. Richard Carmona identified obesity as “the terror within.” He will present an overview of promising approaches for addressing obesity from his perspectives as a homeless child of minority immigrant parents, high school dropout, U.S. Army Special Forces medic, nurse, physician, trauma surgeon, law enforcement officer, hospital system CEO, and distinguished university professor.
